The restaurant has been open for 19 years. The Barrow originally opened on November 24th 1989, and has since been refurbished in 2006/7. As it is a building that has such character and age refurbishment is an ongoing thing.

The building was formally Alms houses and is a historical part of St. Asaph. The 18th century Alms houses were built by Bishop Barrow and have been updated very tastefully without losing any of their charm.
